First bath and more visitors

We gave Owen his first home bath today! He...didn't love it. He did love the snuggling afterwards, though!

Also, cousin Jessie and Kent visited. It was love at first sight :)

If there's a baby, they will come...

Owen has had a lot of visitors! We love the company, and he loves the attention (even though he's always sleeping through visitors...)

So far, Owen loves his swing, sleeping, and his Christmas tree. He does not love diaper changes nor baths.

Welcome Owen!

He's here! Owen Russell Shereika was born via c-section on Monday, December 15, 2014. He was born at 9:43am, weighing 6lbs 2.6oz, and measuring 18.9in long. He is absolutely amazing and just perfection. Meghan, Dan, and Owen are all doing well!

Our stay in the hospital was nice, with lots of getting to know each other and lots of visitors! In the hospital, Owen had a bit of jaundice, but we were able to bring his levels down and his doctors said he looks great! We came home on Thursday afternoon, and we are working on nursing, sleeping, and being awesome.

We are SUPER excited about Owen's first Christmas and we look forward to everyone meeting Owen very soon!

Baby's First Christmas?!

We found out over Thanksgiving that I have "placenta previa". Basically, the placenta is normal, but it's growing in the wrong place, and blocking baby's exit route. After a couple of doctors appointments, we have learned that the best and safest option for us both is to do an early c-section. The doctor recommended doing it at 37 weeks, so it looks like our little boy will be here before Christmas!

We are very excited, and pretty nervous. Everything will be fine, we know, but we also know that complications could come up. But we are praying that everything will go smoothly, and both Mommy and baby will be safe and healthy.

Stay tuned...the next post could be a big one!

This is us at about 33 weeks.

All the ladies love Baby Boy Shereika

This past Saturday was our baby shower. It was wonderfully planned by Karin, and my friends Robin and Kristan. It was an awesome day, and there was lots of laughing and some happy tears. It was great to have lots of friends and family there to help us celebrate our joy! I definitely missed the people who couldn't make it, but we had a good time, and Baby Shereika feels the love.

Here are some pictures, hopefully there will be more to come soon!

"The Prettygirls", college friends from Towson, and still hanging out!

Robin with Evan, who doesn't look pleased by the situation...

Baby's first sign! Thanks Kristan!

On another note, I took the infamous Glucose Tolerance Test last week, and the results were normal! (Phew!) Latest doctor appointment was also good. Other than swollen ankles Monday through Friday and needing more pillows to sleep, everything is great! Although, I hear there are tough times ahead...we'll see :) As long as baby is healthy and growing, I'll take it!

Oh boy!

The big news of the day is...we're having a boy!! (Dan wins)
The first beautiful picture shows a nice profile of Baby Shereika.

What else is going on? In the last 2 weeks or so, Baby Shereika has really stepped up the kicking, moving, bouncing, swimming...and I love every minute of it! I've been feeling little kicks for a loooong time now, but these are the real deal! Dan gets to feel them, and watching my belly move is pretty cool! We've been told that he likes to curl up in a ball, so we got lots of shots legs and feet. I'm thinking swimmer, for sure.

We are also doing well, thanks for asking! We have a mostly finished new deck, an almost empty nursery to prepare, and a long to do list, in between work and naps.

26 weeks down, 14 to go!

Ultrasound and 19 weeks

Last week we went in to have an ultrasound/anatomy scan. The ultrasound tech was very nice, and after a few minutes, she said that everything looked good, and that the baby is moving a lot!

She tried looking for clues to tell us if Baby Shereika is a boy or girl, but unfortunately, it's legs weren't cooperating.

We did get some nice pictures, though!

This is a front view of baby's face (I think it looks like me)

Baby's hands (and I think feet, but she didn't write that)

And the best one: face, hands, and legs, all in one!

Other than that, I'm feeling pretty good, belly is growing, and we're getting ready to get ready...

13.33333 weeks

Hello family and friends!

This is our official new family blog. Since we have family all over the place, we wanted to be able to share the fun with everyone. So here we are!
Pregnant! This ultrasound is from 8.5 weeks, so it was a few weeks ago. We are now 13 weeks and our due date is January 5, 2015.

We are super excited/nervous/happy/nervous all at the same time, but also excited to share this journey with our family and friends. Hopefully, it will continue to be a good and healthy journey for all of us!

I will probably update this blog more frequently once the little one actually joins us. For now, you can check on us anytime, and I hope to be able to update after every fabulous doctor appointment (note: hope).

(Note: this info is not fully public yet, so no FB posts until we announce there, please!)
